The Economist magazine predicted 2019 “The Year of the Vegan” as veganism goes mainstream globally. 250 thousand people from 190 countries registered for the month-long vegan pledge called Veganuary. Nearly half said they’d stay vegan for good. Google searches for the word “vegan” quadrupled between 2012 and 2017.

– In the US, the vegan population skyrockets by 600% over 3 years. One-fourth of 25-to-34-year-old Americans say they are vegans or vegetarians.

– Canada and France each issue new dietary guidelines that urge more vegan and less animal foods.

– China aims to reduce meat consumption by 50% by 2030.

– New York City plans to cut red meat consumption by 50%.

– Vegan-labeled food products in Australia triple in the past 5 years.

– The global plant-based meat market is expected to grow by 1,000% over the next 10 years, driven by public concerns about climate change, animal welfare, and health.

The global plant milk market is growing rapidly, while experts predict the dairy industry could disappear in 10 years. Major meat companies, food companies, restaurants, and supermarket chains are now producing and/or selling plant-based meat products.
